Construction Surveying

When it comes to survey requirements on a construction site, there tends to be many different services needed. From an initial topographic survey gathering coordinates across the site, as it exists, to the final as builts of everything on site upon completion, Furrie Surveys is able to meet all of these survey needs.

Topographic surveys are an essential part at the beginning of any project to get a good idea of the current land layout before any dirt is moved around. This is very helpful in determining volumes of dirt moved.

Our state of the art equipment accurately gathers data where needed to correctly give you an existing land layout, to which we can overlay with future land layouts using brilliantly designed software, telling you all you need to know about how the land has moved and changed since the start of the project.

Grading has been made simple with our new GPS systems. We just enter the elevation required, and place a stake at that needed location indicating to the operator how much dirt to fill or take away at that location. Based on foreman or operator preference we can place flagging at the required elevation the dirt needs to be filled to on the stake. This seems to be very helpful to the operator.

Any layout required from fencing, building corners, piles, gridlines, to lines going in the ground requiring sloping, it will be done quickly and efficiently. Depending on the tolerance required for the type of layout, we will determine which piece of equipment to use to best suit your needs for best possible time and quality.

As builts throughout the duration of the project have become much more mainstream as companies realize their value and importance. They speed up future work up considerably as further work is required in a certain area, data from previous as built surveys can be easily referenced and aid in current required surveys. Basically it comes down to data management. As the project goes on we store as built data separately as required for quick reference later. Usually within minutes we can find old coordinates being searched for, like on buried pipe, or an elevation of some concrete somewhere. We are happy to gather data for as builts, properly store and retrieve it, and prepare reports as needed.

Oil Field Surveying

Our crews are capable of taking care of whatever survey is required in the oil field. Our GPS equipment enables us to get the job done quickly and efficiently. The experience throughout our team entails us to find survey evidence, find and layout suitable access roads, layout well sites, and layout pipeline with proper sloping for your excavators.

Using township survey plans we find existing property pins to gain a point of reference. Our crews are equipped with the right tools to quickly find this evidence so we can continue the layout of whatever you need, wherever you need it.

When laying out suitable access roads, it’s important to find a good location for equipment to get in there safely. We are aware of types of land best suited to get to the project site and will layout the road accordingly. Given the required dimensions, discussing with the client and consultant, we will find and layout a road suitable for your needs. This will be done however it’s preferred. Proper flagging methods and offsets will be used, whichever is convenient for who requires it.

Once given a well site center coordinate and have found proper evidence, it’s just a matter of finding the best route and cost effective way to get there. Then it will be marked out properly along with the proposed boundary of the well site based off that center design coordinate.

If there is a pipeline you would require to have the centerline marked out, we are able to efficiently do this with proper slope staking to ensure safety for all workers.

Plant Site Surveying

Furrie Surveys is aware of required precision on oil sites, and make it our priority to achieve design tolerances. We are happy to say we have very accurate new equipment that entitles us to achieve these accurate surveys required when it comes to laying out piles, building corners, pipeline, and aligning pile caps, etc. Whatever the required survey is, we are able to effectively and efficiently maintain the tolerances and timeline required to complete the project successfully.

Depending on the site, it is usually required to set some form of control whether it’s referenced from existing control or entirely new points. Whichever the case may be, the new points will be properly tied into known coordinates, reviewed for error and adjusted for a best possible fit to give your projects highest possible accuracy. This will help ensure all projects run smoothly and efficiently. Accurate level loops for determining correct elevations will be performed over all placed control and adjusted for a best possible fit.

So whatever you may need done on an oil site, this is certainly an area of expertise for us and we will be happy to provide all survey requests you may require. We have regular calibrations done on our equipment, as well as up to date safety tickets, and all required insurance policies in place so there will be no issues getting off and on a site.
